For 2019, Downtown Schools Night is Thursday, November 21st. It’s a chance to learn more about Boston’s excellent public schools, from parents with children in those schools.
The most important step families can take when considering the Boston Public Schools is to visit schools, and to meet the staff and families. An in-person visit is the only way to appreciate the warm and supportive school communities; the strength of the teaching and leadership teams; and the many unique aspects of each school.
For kindergarten and elementary schools, the options available to families are determined by where the student lives. The first step in choosing the Boston Public Schools (BPS) is to visit the DiscoverBPS website. Discover BPS is a school search engine that helps parents understand where their children are eligible to go to school, and provides detailed information about each school. Enter your child’s address, school year, and other information. The site will provide a list of the schools available for the address, grade level, and other needs you have entered.
See the Kindergarten & Elementary Schools page of this site for more information about K-8 schools.
See the Secondary Schools page of this site for information on schools that cover grades 7 to 12.
