Downtown Schools for Boston is a group of Boston parents, grandparents and other supporters, working to:
- Make it possible for more children to attend Boston Public Schools, and help more families stay in Boston.
- Engage Boston’s downtown neighborhoods with the Boston Public Schools.
- Add and expand diverse public elementary schools in Boston’s downtown neighborhoods.
- Support efforts to improve the quality of Boston’s public schools.
Families in the downtown neighborhoods want public schools that reflect the diversity of the City of Boston. Our efforts help support the steady and substantial progress we have seen in the quality of the Boston Public Schools, across the city.
We hope to involve residents in all of the downtown neighborhoods. Our focus is on the downtown neighborhoods that currently have no public elementary schools: Audubon Circle, the Fenway, Kenmore Square, the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the West End, and Central Boston (Downtown Crossing, Downtown North, Government Center, and the Financial District).
